BODY AWARENESS (TAOISM/BUDDHISM)

  • Attention workouts/mindfulness meditation

  • Tension tuning/strength/flexiblity challenges

  • Learn the basics of noticing, distributing and directing chi as practiced in somatic trainings including Tai Chi, Nei Kung and Wu Chi forms

  • Embody nature’s authenticity integrity, balance and self-control

 

REAL LIFE MINDFULNESS (BUDDHISM)

Adopting the path of non-suffering, compassion and no self, we’ll learn the nature of universal and personal suffering and come to understand that while pain is often inevitable, misery is optional. To grow this awareness, we will examine and test:

Universal labels:

  • Avarice

  • Aversion

  • Illusion

    • Experiential “truth” (physical, emotional, intellectual filters):

      • Senses (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, olfactory, gustatory - vakog)

      • The five emotions

      • Filters of reacting, categorizing, conceptualizing and turning experience into belief

  • Tempering extreme or irrational survival instincts with qualities that serve to develop our ideal comfort and humanity:

    • Fear/generosity

    • Anger/morality

    • Craving/patience

    • Sloth/vigor

    • Agitation/mindfulness

    • Doubt/wisdom

  • Social biases based on:

    • Class, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, ability, education

  • “isms” that challenge gratitude and privilege

  • Noble eightfold path overview

 

NEUROLINGUISTIC PROGRAMMING (NLP, SELF-HYPNOSIS)

  • Examine conscious, semi-conscious and unconscious beliefs that are false or self-limiting

  • Determine hierarchy of personal criteria

  • Repair, liberate and replace unresourceful, habitual states with meaningful, honest, productive programming

 

EXTERNAL RESOURCE INVENTORY

In addition to the personal tools for personal freedom we have already practiced, we will list outside help to move us from hopeless, helpless confusion to clarity and self-loving care – noting their availability in the moment, hour or day:

    • Family, friends, colleagues, healers, teachers

  • Institutions

    • Schools, public assistance, activist orgs, foundations, religions, affinity groups, support fellowships

All sessions include a future paced inventory and commitment to using our new tools to develop habits and resources that are viable and compatible with our real lifestyle and our deepest principles and desires.
